The nearby restaurant, taberna sal grosso, was as close as 500 metres from the hostel. Amazing tourist locations like miradouro da graca were close to the hotel. Just a 5 minutes' walk away there was Santa Apolonia tube station...
Location of the hostel
This is an old flat converted to hotel with shared bathroom and toilet. All the night noise from corridor.
The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect for going out.
Common bathrooms are embarrassing because there is always someone in there so you have to wait you turn. The stairs are very narrow - it's hard to carry upstairs heavy luggage.
Other than it was very cheap, nothing
The very small room that I had was damp and did not appear to be that clean. I slept in my clothes. Thankfully it was only a single night stay.
Location Location Location - its 50 metres from Santa Apolonia train/metro station (major station) which is a 5 minutes hassle free journey to and from most Lisbon attractions. Buy a 5 euro day ticket (24Hrs from activation) from the many metro machines and if you haven't used the metro before simply follow the route colours on the map and numerous signs. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The bloke that was on site most of the time had a good grasp of english so conversation was easy. I had booked a double romm but due to availability i received a larger room with an additional 2 single beds which including the wardrobe was perfect for luggage and organising our stuff. We had a couple of chilly nights and there was a floor standing heater in the room which warmed the room in seconds rather than minutes. A washing line and pegs came in handy on the veranda after a couple of downpours. A washing machine is available at a charge but we didn't need it.
Hard to find initially as there is no obvious entrance or grand sign due to it being on the second floor. Come out the train station front door, turn right, cross the road and walk parallel to the station for 50m until you see number 70 which has a yellow sign sticking out on the 2nd floor with the name on it. Very steep steps for luggage or for those with a disability. Don't expect a multi function kitchen. We used the outhouse kitchen on the veranda which had enough room for two (just). It had a gas cooker lit by matches or lighter and the kettle was one of those whistlers that sat on it but that was it apart from a fridge which was in a sort of veranda conseratory (attached outhouse). Would have liked an iron or ironing board but didn't see one. No safe but the rooms were safe.
Good location - near the train station of Santa Apolonia, subway, taxi, bus, supermarket. In the old part of the Algarve, near the river, 10 minutes from the central square. Good staff. Inexpensive. Have the opportunity to prepare themselves in the kitchen, a veranda.
There no condition, TV, WC in room. Located on the 2nd floor, steep stairs to the floor
The staff was nice. We had some nice small talk. Hotel is located in the interesting and old house. In you park outside in the street, local guy will "help" you to park the car and will expect some change for that. I believe it is better to him some coins for that :)
Very cheap accommodation, good location (few meters to metro-station and railway station St. Apolonia). Check-in and check-out time.
There was no free public parking on the streets. The hostel is just across the road from the railway station, lot's of homeless people around, dangerous to park your car on the street (if you are lucky and find a place). The room was very small (2,5 x 3 metres), there were just two beds and nothing else, not enough room even to put our luggage there. The doors could be easily kicked off, it was like a squat rather than hotel, hostel or anything similar. The room was located on a terasse outside of the building, very cold and noisy. We do not recommend at all, not wort it!
Good backpacker place. Large roof deck. Near the beach. Clean.
It was a bit outdated and not near the center of town.
It is situated very close to the Santa Apolonia Station-we came late at night to Lisbon and we didn't have any problems to check in, no additional payments because of that fact (as it's common in Portugal). It's helpful especially if you go to Porto next day in the morning. ;-)
Ypu can't complain for such price. ;-)
I stayed at this hotel due to lateness of hour arrival and location to train, big mistake,
I did not like the many stairs to arrive with baggage, the clerk met me and did not help a little with bags, yes cheap, no hot water, not heater, cold this time of year, yes, I hated this place, and ran away as soon as possible, and advise others do not bother,
2 minutes walk from Santa Apolonia station. Very basic but good value.
The position, it is just at 20 meters from the station, even if you have to walk 15 minutes to get to the city center
They make you pay any extra service after the log off, even 1.5 € to leave there your luggage the last day.
It is located near a train station.
Most facilities are old and poor. The twin room we slept had no furniture except two very small beds and was much smaller than typical sigle room in ordinary hotels.
